Dear Potential 2023 Program Partner:
The Cleveland Council of Black Colleges Alumni Association seeks your support to join with other program partners, alumni, and friends throughout our community to support the next generation of Sylvester Reeds. But who is he, you ask? Over forty years ago, the Tuskegee Institute graduate Sylvester Reed decided that it was time for Cleveland-area HBCU alumni to strategically recruit for their member institutions and promote the advocacy and awareness of HBCUs in this community and support alumni chapter development. Mr. Reed recognized a need and united resources from the community and alumni who volunteered their time, talent, and treasure to establish the Cleveland Council of Black College Alumni Association (CCBCAA). This impressive group comprises graduates and supporters of accredited public or private HBCUs in the Greater Cleveland, Ohio area. To date, thousands of students and alumni have benefited from his one decision.
One such decision was the creation of the Historically Black College and University Fair. From its humble beginnings 20 years ago, the fair was primarily supported by a few alumni chapters and reached a merger audience of fewer than 200 people in the basement of Antioch Baptist Church or the former African American Museum of Cleveland. Now the event attracts the office of admissions personnel, major sponsors, and national attention through its multi-leveled/multi-tiered event.
The Council relies on the generous support of its alumni and supporters to continue its commitment to excellence in education. Each year the generosity of others helps enrich, expand and educate our community of the various Historically Black Colleges and Universities programs and curricula and enable college-bound students to recognize their talents and achieve their dreams.
While there are several worthy organizations in our community whose aim is to further education, with your support, the Council will continue to target the specific audience of young people from the Greater Cleveland/Northeast Ohio who desire to matriculate at one of the nation's best HBCUs across the country.
