Named 2024 Honorary Drum Majors of Education
From our humble beginnings to today, this group has been by our side.
We are thrilled to announce our 2024 Honorary Drum Majors for Education at the 22nd Annual Destination HBCU College Fair. This prestigious recognition is awarded to an individual or organization that deeply believes in the mission and vision of the Cleveland Council of Black Colleges Alumni Association and the Destination HBCU cause. The title of Honorary Drum Major signifies leadership, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to guiding and uplifting the next generation of scholars. This year, the Metropolitan Cleveland Alliance of Black School Educators (Metro CABSE) has been chosen for their extraordinary contributions and enduring support, which have significantly shaped the success of this event.
Since 1981, Metro CABSE, led by Dr. Robin Simmons, has made a profound impact on the academic success and personal development of countless students in our community. As a local chapter of the National Alliance of Black School Educators, they have tirelessly nurtured young scholars, guiding them through critical stages of their academic journey—from their formative years to the challenges of passing the ACT and graduating from high school. Their support extends beyond the classroom, providing scholarships and mentorship to students aspiring to higher education and those called to become educators. With many members being HBCU graduates, Metro CABSE has consistently championed the Cleveland Council of Black Colleges Alumni Association and the Destination HBCU College Fair. Their dedication ensures the college fair is not just successful but transformative.
For these reasons, we proudly recognize Metro CABSE as our 2024 Honorary Drum Majors for Education. Their commitment to education and the success of our youth embodies the spirit of leadership and excellence that defines a Drum Major.
